Get ready for more pop at the New Haven Artspace Underground art parties. Tweefort will be providing the bands at the monthly events from May on. The May party will be headlined by L.A. indiepop band The Tartans, in the area for the New York City popfest May 14-17. Also at the May party will be Manchester indie/post punk band Panda and Child.
The Artspace Underground is at the gallery at 50 Orange St., New Haven. $5 gets you in and drinks are provided by 116 Crown. The party is 8 p.m.-11 p.m.
The Tartans are a jangly, bicycle-loving pop group from Los Angeles. With boy-girl vocals, 6 and 12 string guitars, organs, a rickenbacker bass and a glockenspeil, this quartet (sometimes quintet) is full of soul and fun, fun, fun.
Panda and Child are an eclectic indie band from Manchester, Conn. They site Sonic Youth, The Rentals and Yo La Tengo as influences. Panda and Child have toured the Midwest and Southern U.S., and are a staple on CT stages from Hartford and New Haven to New London and Danbury.
